Whether it's a question of hygiene, relationship, comfort or space, we all wonder if we'd rather have our pooch sleep with us or if it would be better to keep him in his bed. But first, what about the quality of sleep when you share a bed with a dog? A study has shown that sleeping with your dog could be beneficial for your sleep. They would even be better nap companions than cats and humans!
This is the finding of Kaylee Stutz and Terrie Vasilopoulos, two scientists from Canisius University. They analyzed the sleep of 962 women: 55% shared their bed with at least one dog and 31% with at least one cat, 57% slept with a human being. While cats and humans tended to wake them up in the middle of the night, the dog brought them calm and a real sense of security and comfort, the right recipe for a restful night.
Better than ASMR, hypnosis or sleeping pills: canines! However, the study does not talk about sharing the bed with several dogs, so it is another story when you have to find some space for you..
